Suitable qualities
द्रुतद्रावं महाभारं छेदे कृष्णसमुज्ज्वलम् ।
पूतिगन्धं बहि: कृष्णं शुद्धं सीसमतोऽन्यथा ॥ (र. र. स. ५/ १७०)
drutadrāvaṃ mahābhāraṃ chede kṛṣṇasamujjvalam |
pūtigandhaṃ bahi: kṛṣṇaṃ śuddhaṃ sīsamato’nyathā || (ra. ra. sa. 5/ 170)
The one which is heavy, dark colored upon cutting, Lustrous, yields bad smell on melting, having darker outer color is considered of suitable quality.
Samanya Shodhana
तैले तक्रे गवां मूत्रे ह्यरनाले कुलत्थजे।
क्रमान्निषेचयेत्तमं द्रावे तु सप्तधा ॥
स्वर्णदिलोह पत्राणां शुद्धिरेषां प्रशस्यते । (र. र स ५/१३)

kramānniṣecayettamaṃ drāve tu saptadhā ||
svarṇadiloha patrāṇāṃ śuddhireṣāṃ praśasyate | (ra. ra sa 5/13)
The Lohas are made into thin sheets, heated in fire till red hot and dipped in Taila – Sesame oil – Sesamum indicum – 768 ml (gingelly oil), Takra (buttermilk), Gomutra – Cow urine, Kanji – Fermented gruel and Kulattha Kwatha (decoction of horsegram) for 7 times each.
Vishesha Shodhana
हरिद्राचूर्ण संयुक्ते रसे निर्गुण्डिकोद्भवे ।
दृतं निर्वापयेत्तत्र त्रिवारं शुद्धि मृच्चति ॥ (रसामृतं लोहा विज्ञानीय २०३)
१.सीसकम् द्रावयेल्लोहदर्णीगतं स्वच्छचूर्णोदके चाथ निर्वापयेत् ।
पूर्वमार्गेण वै शोशकर्माचरेत सीसकं सन्त्वरं याति शुद्धिं पराम् ॥ (र. त. १९/ १० )
haridracorṇa saṃyukte rase nirguṇḍikodbhave |
dṛtaṃ nirvāpayetraṃ trivāraṃ śuddhi mṛccati || (rasāmṛtaṃ lohā vijñānīya 203)
1.sīsakam drāvayellohadarṇīgataṃ svacchacūrṇodake cātha nirvāpayet |
pūrvamārgeṇa vai śośakarmācareta sīsakaṃ santvaraṃ yāti śuddhiṃ parām || (ra. ta. 19/ 10 )
- Naga is melted and dipped into Nirgundi swarasa mixed with turmeric powder for three times.
- Naga is melted ad dipped in lime water for seven times.
- Naga is melted and dipped in Arka Ksheera – Cow milk – 3.072 liters for three times.
Jarana
वह्रौ तु व्रिद्रृते नागे पादांशं सूतकं क्षिपेत् ।
ततस्तु खाखसं चूर्णं दत्वा दत्वा प्रचालयेत् ॥ (रसामृत लोह विज्ञानीय २०४)
vahrau tu vridrṛte nāge pādāṃśaṃ sūtakaṃ kṣipet |
tatastu khākhasaṃ cūrṇaṃ datvā datvā pracālayet || (rasāmṛta loha vijñānīya 204)
Naga is taken in a vessel, melted, added with ¼ th part of Parada, added with Optimum powder little by little by little, stirred well, so that the Nag turns into powder form. later it is grouped at a place, covered with a lid and subjected to intense fire. Before Marana, nagais subjected to Jarana by this method. In place of opium powder, Ashwattha, Chincha – Tamarind – Tamarindus indica bark can also be taken.
Marana
१. चूर्णीभूते शिलां तुल्यां दत्वाटारुषपत्रजे ।
स्वरसे मर्दयेत् सम्यक् ततो लघु पुटे पचेत् ॥
द्वितीयदि पुटे दह्याच्छिलां पादांशीकां बुधः ॥
एवं सप्त पुतैर्नागो भस्मिभवती निश्चितम् ॥

२. पुट से चतुर्थाश मनःशीला मिलल्ना चाहिए ।
शिलया रविदुग्धेन नागपत्राणि लेपयेत् ।
मारयेत्पुटयोगेन निरुत्थं जायते तथा ॥ (र.र.स ५/१८४)
1. cūrṇībhūte śilāṃ tulyāṃ datvāṭāruṣapatraje |
svarase mardayet samyak tato laghu puṭe pacet ||
dvitīyadi puṭe dahyācchilāṃ pādāṃśīkāṃ budhaḥ ||

2. puṭa se caturthāśa manaḥśīlā milalnā cāhie |
śilayā ravidugdhena nāgapatrāṇi lepayet |
mārayetpuṭayogena nirutthaṃ jāyate tathā || (ra.ra.sa 5/184)
Marana
- Jaarita Naga is added with 1 Part of Manashila, Given Bhavana with Vasapatra swarasa, cakes are prepared and subjected to Laghu Puta for seven times. In the second Puta, ¼ th part of manashila should be added.
- Naga is taken in this Sheets, Smeared with Manashila, which is given Bhavana with Arkakseera, taken in a Sharava samputa, and subjected to Puta.
