Ingredients:

Boiled and cooled milk – 80 ml

How to prepare?

Take milk  and coarse powder of Arjuna bark in a wide mouthed vessel.

Note down the height of the milk in the container, with the help of a spoon or a measuring scale.

  1. Harish Kashyap says:

Thanks Dr. Hebbar for the very nice presentation. I want to know if this heart tonic of Arjuna can be consumed by every member of the family. I have a daughter 6 years old. Can it be given to her as a tonic and what dosage? please advise.
    Regards
    Harish

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

Yes it can be given to everyone. For child, it is not very necessary. But if you wish to give, 2 – 3 spoons in the morning, after food should be good enough.

  2. Shyam Prasad says:

    Hello Doc,

Is Carambola tree (Karmbala) found in the Karnataka coast same as arjuna? The fruits look quite similar on the Google images.. Thanks.

    Best Regards, Shyam

  3. Belinda says:

    Dr Hebbar,
I read that arjuna will lower high blood pressure. However I have low BP (90/60). Does it mean I am not suitable to take arjuna?

  4. Have you heard of coleus forskohlii? Is this used in any Ayurvedic medicine?

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

It is known by the terms – Gandira and Makandi in Ayurveda. It is useful in pacifying Pitta, useful in high BP, relieves burning sensation and gastritis.

  5. Can we use coconut or almond milk to prepare this??

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

You can add a bit of almond milk to this while preparing. But this remedy needs to be prepared with cow milk base.

  6. Hello, I have two questions. Can I use the 80 ml for two days, keeping in the fridge for example? When can I expect some results?Thank you very much.

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

Hi Ales, You can not refrigerate it. Everyday it needs to be prepared afresh. To use it for a couple of months, better to prepare 20 ml each day freshly and consume it when it is hot.

      • Then what happens to the other 40 mL that hasn’t been consumed? In the instructions it says make 80 mL, but if one is to consume 20 mL twice a day, then that’s 40 mL left over. Is it too much to consume 40 mL twice a day so it doesn’t go to waste? Or is that dangerous?

        • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

Hi, for the purpose of demonstration, I used the example of 80 ml. You can reduce or increase the proportions based on number of people at your home, willing to take this remedy.

  7. Dear Mr. Hebbar, thank you very much for the previous advice. I have one (hope last :)) question regarding the usage of ajruna. Can I for example take 2.5 g of powder in gel capsules 2x times per day? Or is the milk remedy the best way how to extract all active substances? I mean, is the milk remedy most powerfull form of treatment? Thank you very much.

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

Arjuna powder in the form of capsule is also available in the market and is also a very good way of taking it. The dose of it needs to be decided based on personal consultation.
Milk remedy of Arjuna as explained above is the way to use as per Ayurveda, as found in Ancient Ayurveda text books. Hence it can be considered as the best way.

  8. I want just add one thing. The powder won´t be freeze-dried 🙂 I dont have a freez dryer. Can I still prepare those capsules and store them in fridge for example? Thank you 100x times for you patience. Regards, Ales

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

2.5 grams dose would be excess. As a general tonic, 500 mg twice a day should be good. But the dose depends on disease, patient condition etc.

  9. bakirathan says:

how to dissolve heart artery blocks. can this arjuna powder can dissolve, if so how it should be taken

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

Arjuna cannot alone be effective in relieving blocks. Please consult your doctor.

  10. tanishqa says:

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

  11. Hi Dr.hebbar is Arjuna tea available and how it is benitificial

  12. Tarun Narang says:

    Hi Dr. Hebbar,

My father suffers from high BP and diabetes. Can I take the Arjuna in it’s original solid form? If so, then should I use the same procedure mentioned above or do it in a different way?

    • Dr Malini Bhat says:

Dear sir, I would recommend you to take an expert advice from a Ayurvedic Physician in this regard because medicines are given taken into consideration the age, sex and health of the individual.

  13. Is it good to consume for a person (50 yr. old female) having normal BP and high sugar (not too much) just to strengthen the heart and to remove blockage from the veins of entire body ?
    I’m thinking about Himalya Arjuna

    • Dr Malini Bhat says:

Dear Sir, I would recommend you to take an expert advice from a Ayurvedic Physician in this regard because medicines are given taken into consideration the age, sex and health of the individual.

  14. vishal says:

    Hello Dr Hebbar

kya heart blockage arjun ki chal se nikal sak te hai

  16. Lathika says:

Sir , Can Arjuna help to improve low EF after a heart attack & bypass..can this be consumed with out milk

  17. Hi Dr. J V Hebbar,

Is there any recommendation for preparing this more as a tea instead of a concentrated tonic? For instance, just as one would make chai (i.e., using 1 tsp spoon of fine arjuna powder per person instead of the chai patti)?

Also, can this be taken in the evening before dinner, or would after dinner be better?

Thank you kindly for your assistance!

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

      1. This, can be used instead of chai patti, just with 1 teaspoon of fine arjuna powder, per person.
      2. This can be taken before dinner.

Good quality Arjuna powder is available in amazon website here
      http://amzn.to/2uwsjLx

  18. Thank you, Dr. Hebbar!

Just as a follow up question:

    1) Can I mix cardamom, fennel, etc in the arjuna tea? Is there any combination that should be avoided, for instance, like ginger in the tea?

    2) Is it okay to take this before dinner and then have either ashwagandha powder in warm water or triphala pwder in warm water or haldi milk before bed (I alternate between these three so that I have each at least twice a week). So this would be 2-3 hours apart between the arjuna tea and the other remedy.

Thank you once again. And thank you kindly for the link.

    • Dr J V Hebbar MD(Ayu) says:

Hi, you can mix cardamom, fennel etc in arjuna tea. There is no contra indications here.
Before dinner is fine to take.
Better to take triphala powder after food and haldi milk before food.
Triphala and milk should not be mixed.
