With the summer season slowly approaching, now may be a good time to start paying attention to how you can protect your skin during the hot summer months.
Whether you’re hoping to experiment with some Ayurvedic treatments that will help reduce the number of wrinkles on your face, or if you’re looking around for different remedies that could help treat acne, there are various Ayurvedic treatments you could try to help your skin look healthier this summer.
Dry skin care
According to Ayruvedic experts, common skin problems such as rashes, acne and hives usually occur when there is too much heat accumulated in the body. It is also believed that dry skin is caused due to eating foods that are dry, bitter and spicy, as well as irregular food habits (like eating at night) or being under physical and mental stress.
Some of the many treatments you could try to combat dry skin include –
- Massaging your body with massage oils that are infused with vata balancing herbs
- Not eating fried/stale foods and choose fresh foods instead (especially foods that are warm and are made with olive oil or ghee).
- Experts recommend eating salty and sour foods as well as fruits, vegetables, cereals, carbohydrates and dairy products, and drinking up to seven to eight glasses of water each day.
- Also, if you’re going to clean your skin try using cold water instead of warm or hot water, and be sure to use a soft cloth to pat dry your skin after washing.
Acne Solutions:
Stress, tension, chemicals, and pollution are all major causes that could force your face and/or skin to break out in acne, blemishes, pimples and rashes. If you suffer from any of these skin conditions, there are various herbs you could try digesting or applying to your skin to help treat any irritation.
Triphala is known to help eliminate any excess heat from your body and it can also help promote your skin’s natural healing process as well.
Neem is another herb you can put directly on your skin to help remove any toxins from the blood because of its antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Neem oil can also be used to rub on your skin, or a powder if your skin is oily or inflamed.
Ayurvedic experts also recommend that you try including Turmeric in your diet as well, which you can cook to help remove any toxins in your body once it is applied to your skin.
Anti-aging remedies and skin care
- Ayurvedic experts state that there are a variety of factors that contribute to draining the life out of your skin, such as stress, irregular sleeping and eating habits and tension.
- It is also believed that food containing artificial flavors, chemicals, preservatives, and colors can also aggravate skin conditions as well.
- If you’re hoping to experiment in Ayurveda treatments to help reduce the number of wrinkles on your face, then try massaging your face with almond oil or coconut oil before going to bed, or grate cucumbers into a face pack and lay it over your face.
- Experts also recommend applying fresh Aloe vera to your skin as well, along with massaging your face with ghee at least once a day.

Always eat appropriate foods that will help you skin become radiant and healthy. Soon, you will become wrinkle free and will benefit greatly from eating the right food choices. Ayurveda recommends “ABHYANGA” or oil bath. Oil bath is the most effective medicine. It acts as a tonic for the skin.

This is succinctly written advice with substance. The natural remedy approach of Ayurveda undeniably leads to visible improvement of skin’s health. There are so many botanical options that are great alternatives to store bought chemical ridden products. Remember to choose ORGANIC.

Divide the quantity of amla into 50 % of each of amla and brahmi.
