This can be taken upto a limited period. For a maximum, it can be taken for 2 – 3 months, only if your doctor permits.
Diabetic patient can take this after food.

I appreciate your prompt response. What Ayurvedic medicine would you recommend for its (their) antibacterial action and how long could it (they) be taken?
        Thanks you so much!

Adult dose is – 1 – 2 teaspoons two times a day after food with lukewarm water.
Can be taken for 1 – 2 months.
Note: Better to consult a healthcare professional, than self medication.

As Keli asked above, I would also like to know ayurvedic medicines/herbs that have particularly potent *antibacterial* effect, for example those that can be taken in place of allopathic antibiotics (like *-mycin/*-cillin/etc…) for bacterial infections (of course will discuss with doctor before taking them), e.g. tooth infection, etc…

Have to admit that nothing as strong ac mycins and cillins exist in Ayurveda. however, neem, Kiratatikta, Patola, Guduchi, Gokshura, Kantakari, garlic, Cinnamon, Clove are a few potent antibacterial herbs. (not a complete list).

Hi, there are many supportive medicines for typhoid that can be tried – such as Sudarshan Choorna, Amrutarishta, Amrutottara Kashayam, Panchatikta kashayam tablet etc. But these should only be used as supportive medicine along with mainstream medication. Please consult your Ayurvedic docotr directly.

Hi, it can be taken only if the doctor has prescribed directly. It is better to restrict its usage to not more than 15 days (in my opinion)

During fever the metabolism rate will be less that is the reason people tend to eat less when they have fever.

Hello, Depending on your body type, the medication varies. It is generally recognized that no two persons are exactly alike, scientifically speaking, nor do they react alike, and a diet or drug that agrees with one may disagree with another. Various factors like body, constitution, age, gastric fire, morbid tendency the treatment is based. Do consult a physician for the treatment and dietary plan.

The cause of chest congestion needs to be evaluated first. If it is due to cough, cold, asthma etc, then it is useful.
